ETA Awarded on Education National Annual Congress PDF Print E-mail

Annual Education and Training National Congress was held from August 09 - 12, 2009 in Gambela National Regional State in Gambela town, capital of the Region.
Attendees were drawn from Capacity Building Standing Committee of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian Parliament, Federal Ministry of Education, Regional Education Buraux, universities and colleges, Technical and vocational and Training Agencies,
Woreda Education Offices, Ethiopian Teachers Association Head Office and Regional Teachers' Associations, schools and student representatives.

The Congress was started with opening speech made by His Excellence Ato Umod Ubong, Chief of the Regional state. Then after, His Excellence Ato Demeke Mekonnen, Minister of education, delivered his opening remark stressing his hope that the Congress evaluates the educational performance of the fiscal year and deliberates on future plan with the aim of resolving the existing short comings with special emphasis to the quality of education. He has called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in implementing the General Quality Improvement six programmes underway.
During its stay the congress has thoroughly discussed on the reports presented from the Regional Education bureau. As usual, ETA had also presented its report to the congress.
A day before the congress convenes its meeting, regional model schools presented their performances and experience sharing with the aim of scaling-up the good practices.
At the end of the meeting, school directors, supervisors and other institutions have collected their awards from the officials for their job well done.
ETA was proud to be one of the institutions selected for the award for its utmost efforts being made in defending teachers rights and its commitment for provision of Quality Education for All. The association has got a certificate and scholarship award for one of its executive committee members at the head office.
This further motivates the ETA leadership to fulfill the stated objectives of the Association.
