Ethiopia conducts its 4th general election in May 2010. Reports confirm that 92 national and region political parties are legally registered and most of them are contesting for the leadership.

The 9th High Level Group meeting on Education for All (EFA) was held from 23-25 Feb, 2010 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia organized by Ethiopia in collaboration with African union and UNESCO.

Participants of the meeting were Ministers of Education from over forty countries, Deputy Ministers of higher education representatives, governmental and non-governmental international organizations including civil societies.

Ethiopian Teachers Association, as per its statute, convenes every year to evaluate its annual performance and endorses the following annual plan of the association.
Accordingly, the 22nd Annual Council meeting was held from10-12 October 2009 in Arsi, the source of famous male and female athletes for the country, located in Oromia Regional state.
Participants were representatives of regional, zonal and district teachers’ associations as well as 13 organized University Teachers' Associations.

Every year, World Teachers' Day is celebrated on 5th October to commemorate the anniversary of the signing in 1966 of the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers.

Annual Education and Training National Congress was held from August 09 - 12, 2009 in Gambela National Regional State in Gambela town, capital of the Region.
Attendees were drawn from Capacity Building Standing Committee of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian Parliament, Federal Ministry of Education, Regional Education Buraux, universities and colleges, Technical and vocational and Training Agencies,
